They will replace (hopefully) a pair of Polk Monitor 40 Series IIs. The Polks have served me well for several years, but I wanted to try a pair of Mr. Jones speakers and $279 delivered seemed like a safe bet. Will first try a 50 wpc Emotiva integrated but if I need more beans, I have a 150 wpc Emotiva power amp, a 100 wpc B&K and a 100 wpc PS Audio integrated I could swap out.

Looking forward to your impressions. I have been toying with getting the ELAC B5 for my vacation home. Driving with a Music Reference RM-5 and a W4S ST-500. Clearly the front end will be a notch above the ELACs but I am limited by WAF to bookshelf speakers (the smaller the better).
I had been using the same front end for my MG3.7i with great results but now use a ARC SP16 as the pre (I needed remote control) along with a 2nd ST500. Prior to the 3.7i I was actively biamping MG-IIIa with the two ST500s.
Those Elacs do look very nice. I have been impressed by the latest Elac speakers which look very high quality & have clearly come along in leaps and bounds. Congrats!
Vitus SCD025MkII, SIA025, Oppo BPD-103AU, Magico S5's, Taoc ASR racks + SCB-RS50g, Stillpoints Ultra 6's/Mini's/LPI's, Furutech GTX-D(G), Gigawatt PC-3 SE Evo, Jorma Prime pc's + xlr's/Statement sc's/Unity pc, Siltech Classic Anniversary rcas + HDMI
Could you compare a pair with the Magico and tell us what exactly are the differences driven by your source?
Cheers
Bill
Bill, I haven't heard your specific Elac speakers so I can't comment on their sound. But the cheapest small Magico speaker is the S1 which has an US mspr of $12,600, but can be had 2nd hand for aroudnd $6.5k. The S1's build quality is excellent of course, and the drivers use the same materials as the S5's, however I was never completely happy with the sound of this speaker; in particular the bass & sound staging. The S1's are also very inefficient (86db into a 4ohm load). I just think the concept doesn't work well. As a complete package, I rate the Magico Mini II's higher on both sound and aesthetics. They're great speakers if you can find them 2nd hand.In the same form factor (as S1), the YG Carmel 2 is a much better speaker. It's build quality & especially sound are on another level, as their $24,300US price tag suggests.
The best sounding compact Magico speaker is the Q1 which is $39kUS & sounds sublime with the right upstream gear. The Q1 is an easy recommendation in small spaces, but you need deep pockets. To be honest, even though i'm a Magico fan, i'd first look at a pair of Joseph Audio Pulsars, 2nd hand Sonus Faber Guarneri Homages, Penaudio Cenya Signatures, Proac D two & Harbeth C7ES-3. You could also throw in the Reference 3a MM de Capo BE's & Kef LS50's as well. Harbeths btw have great synergy with Leben. Jeff Day has written a lot about that gear for 6 moons.

WOW, what a wonderful post. Thanks.
I feel very good you have mentioned some of my favorite speakers, ie; Joseph Audio Pulsar, Harbeth 7, De Capo. I am yet to listen to YG Acoustics Carmel but I get the feeling it is a great speaker. I dont like the KEF 50 as I find the sound a little metalic.
As regards Majico, I only wanted to know about the difference between a top speaker and a Andrew Jones designed top budget speaker. To measure the difference between the Haves and the Havenots.
Best Regards
Bill
First impressions are that they are a little on the warm side, which is good. Very well balanced with great bass and dynamics. Mine sounds best so far on my PP KT77 in triode mode. Need to break them in for a week or so.

Bass is such that you could run these without a sub for sure. I would like just a pinch more air on top though. I have a fix for that if you're interested.
their floorstanders look good, I've also read this is the first of many lines.
Ya,I heard they are coming out with a new model on Wednesday that supersedes the Debut B6 and it's suppose to be way better than the current B6.........just kidding Henry.....

After a few weeks with my B5s difficult to believe what you can get for the buck. These are right up there with my old Celestions SL600s and Spendor LS3/5. Tried a variety of tube/tube preamp/solid state power and decided that my workhorse Muse 160 SS with my MFA octal pre to be the key for me. Pushing the volume up to realistic levels and these tiny boxes begin to disappear--uncanny. Tonalities of instruments and voice was superb. Large soundstage with speakers 42 inches high and angled down and toe'd in. So easy to physically position these mighty mites. Can't wait for the upgrades.
What upgrade?
Bill
Sorry, just conjecture at this point. But given Andrew Jones' history with Pioneer/TAD I am hoping he gets into horn systems with the ELAC model of return for the dollar. Can't help but drool to imagine a 90% TAD high end for a thousand or two. Don't you agree.
90% TAD at a tad over thousand! We will push AJ for that.
Regards
Bill
Do they come in any color you want as long as it is black?

It was a toss-up for me between the B5 & B6. I opted for the B5 which I love and has ample small room friendly bass. I'm sure your going to have a great sounding experience with the B6's.
Hi there, considering the B5 or B6 Elacs and was wondering the size of your room. Mine is a home office 15 x 15 w/ 7.5' ceiling. And do you think a Music Hall a15.3 integrated amp @50 wpc is a good match?
Thanks

Had 2 weeks continuous play with Plinius SA-102 & M-16, brings out the best of B5's capability. However, I also used a vintage Marantz receiver which incorporates satisfying warm rich sound.
