Don't underestimate the fun factor in some of these goofy looking form factors. The Pioneer may eschew accuracy, but I'll bet it's a hoot when you just want to crank the volume and duck walk around the room.

Ive had CS's including 99's....Kind of like Rat Shack Mach 1's...looks
neat, but after 30 seconds, I wanted them OUT. :) I danced for
joy only when I sold them!.
But I bet the guy who bought them danced for joy as well.
Truly, there are different strokes for different folks. Not everyone cares about sound stages and image placement and PRAT. Instead, they just want the sound to be loud and in your face.
Think about it this way: if lots of folks didn't enjoy garbage sound, why are there so many speakers made to cater to that group?
JE
Yes..there's a place for "party' style speakers, and there's
a market for that, mostly younger age groups. Good point!.
In a way, I kind of envy those folks. No audiophile angst, no worrying if they are in the sweet spot, no fussing over how the system is set up. They just turn on the music and enjoy. Imagine that!
JE
True that. Listening just for fun.
listening without being critical.Who are we to say to other humans whether or not Euterpe was there or not for them at any particular moment in time, just because of the equipment they were using? If you've received a blessing, then I hope you rejoiced in the magic of the moment!
