I am some what lost with the original post. Photo of a KEF and a question on Harbeth. First, prices rarely go down unless they are being discontinued or a dealer is discounting or the importer got a special price from the manufacturer and is passing it along. Second, prices vary based on shipping rates, exchange rates, and manufacturers increases. UPS and other international shipping companies adjust prices weekly. No two international transportation companies will quote the same price. If Harbeth and Stirling are not consolidating their shipments, their costs will differ. Third, if you have a legitimate question and want to know the truth, do not slander an importer or anyone else when you have no, partial, and/or limited information or knowledge. Finally, if this is really bothering you, keeping you up at night, or has a real financial impact on you, simply call the importer and politely ask for some help.

Wow, you sound just like Mr. Shaw of Harbeth!
Maybe I missed it, but didn't you pick up a Rogue Stereo 100 amp? Did you try it on your KEFs and if so, how did it do?
Where did you get that information from? The last time I looked the price is the same ( $2095 for the cherry,2395 for the more expensive finishes). BTW,that is a strange looking Harbeth.
They used to be $2395 in standard finishes.

The standard finish is cherry and they were never $2495. BTW,the Stirling LS 3/5V2 jumped from $1900 to $2400 overnight. Imported products fluctuate frequently due to exchange rates, duty, etc.
Here is the price back in 2012 !

This is what they USED TO BE - $2395, just like I said.
Oh, and the Stirling price going up six hundred bucks? Stirling is imported by the Harbeth importer. He is SCREWING WITH THAT COMPANY IN ORDER TO PROTECT HIS HIGHLY PROFITABLE HARBETH SALES.
The Harbeth goes down three hundred bucks while they nearly identical Stirling GOES UP six hundred bucks? Sorry, it's not shipping costs.
It's the importer. He's making an easy 12% OVER a reasonable profit on the Harbeth line, more on some models.
But the LS50, widely popular at $1500 was cutting into that part of the market which meant he could not charge his ridiculously inflated prices on that speaker any more. Don't worry, he'll make it up with every Compact 7, 30.1, or SHL5 he sells.

"He is SCREWING WITH THAT COMPANY IN ORDER TO PROTECT HIS HIGHLY PROFITABLE HARBETH SALES. "I am not so sure.
You forget Spendor which is right around $1.6k.
I suspect the rising Sterling price is driven by their desire to be "valued" as another Harbeth. It might have been part of the marketing plan when he took over the distribution. Nobody making BBC monitors thinks there should be a large difference between them and the top of the heap, too.
I suspect the drop in Harbeth is based upon market position vs. Spendor and the sea of competitors at or below $2k. The strengthening dollar probably allowed this to happen with little harm to the parent company, too.
And, even though prices can drop a little, the long term trend is upwards. Though you have to wonder with a weakening Asia, if this trend is sustainable with the more stagnant-wage West?

Where is the $300 price drop?
Check out the price here.
The standard finish used to be $2095.
Here is a link to help you out.
Maybe they are being sued by KEF for copying their design?
No, KEF is out selling them like crazy in that part of the market.
LS50's for $1500 or P3ESR's for $2400? $900 More? No way.
Ok, so drop the price to $2100 now it's only $600 more.

You missed the joke - your original post has a picture of the KEF LS-50 and your title thread is about Harbeth.
Companies and distributors can charge whatever they like - and yo are free to pay it or not pay it. They will charge what the market will bare. If 9/10 people are willing to pay $2,000 and the 1/10 is only willing to pay $1600 - they're going to charge $2000. So rather than get on their case you should get on the consumer's case and convince them the speaker is worth $1300 and then when the 10/10 are only willing to pay $1300 - that will be the new price (and they will still make money on them) but the maker and dealer might have to settle for a lower model Bentley or 2 maids instead of 3.
