Anyone heard this speaker recently reviewed in Stereophile by the late Bob Reina? Very favorable review. No dealers in my area can demo. Looking at JA's measurement, there seems to be a large mid-bass hump but neither Reina or Atkinson mention any tubbiness which would be a deal breaker for me. Anyone?
Follow Ups:
Last weekend spent 2 hours with a KEF ls50. Wonderful midrange, sparkling high end that was often wonderful, sometimes just too sparkly, but the dynamic range seemed limited. A good speaker, maybe great, but not enough Oomph for me.
Spent two hours today with the Wharfedale Jade 3. I liked it more. I know, Heresy. The big different was the dynamic range. Tonally, with a few albums, like Aimee Mann and Bryan Ferry I also liked the sound more. But the dynamic range of the Wharfedale was a bit of a show stopper - excellent for a monitor. Very impressive. Will listen to the small Revel next.
Unfortunately, I then listed to many of the same songs via a Revel Studio 2. My room calls for monitors, I have a 5 channel system and am replacing some older Vandersteens. I have convinced myself to not spend another $20k on speakers! And the Revels were simply, as I guess should be expected, a different universe. Of course the bass was better, but the depth of image, richness in the midrange, etc. etc. Was just overwhelming. Truly a great speaker.
Guess I will need to tell the wife that we are eating at home move often. Thank God she is a great cook.

Last year I borrowed a friends pair for a week. I was not impressed. That does not mean they are not a good speaker, they just did not sound coherent or natural to me personally.
Wharfdale used to be a pretty good speaker- now I believe it is made in china.
You may remember my post on these speakers which went unanswered as well. I guess no one has experience with them. I was interested in them because I always thought my EVO-II 30's lacked a little bass. I just recently bi-wired them with an Audiosource 80 wpc stereo amp running the woofers & Quicksilver Silver 90 mono blocks for the midbass & treble. The bass is much improved & has better control than with the Silver 90's alone! For instance when I play Santana's No one To depend on, it sounds like there's a bass amp in the room or the subwoofer is on! There is simply no overhang & deep bass is only produced when it is on the recording. Personally I don't think I'd pay the kind of money they want for the Jade 3 simply because it's made ( manufactured ) in china! Maybe you read my post several months ago? ( link provided )
