I recently picked up a pair of Ohm Walsh 2's, production date 12/84. Unfortunately, they did not have the "grills" (fabric covered box on the top that covers the driver can). Ohm still sells these grills, but they're out of my price range. I'm wondering if anyone has a pair they could sell for a low price, or failing that, if anyone who has these speakers could take some good pics of the grills, inside & out & email them to me. I may attempt to make a pair (a wooden frame covered with suitable cloth), and seeing how they were originally built would help with that. I've never seen a pair "in the flesh". Are they wood? Plastic? Something else?
TIA

And I'm pretty sure you could devise a foam "hat" that would work as well or better than the original for very little money. $120/pr. is a bit steep, IMHO, I could see spending $75/pr.....

I know it's easy to spend someone else's money, but at $120 each, doubtful you could do much better unless you just got incredibly lucky.
Do not throw your cigarette butts on the floor. The cockroaches are getting cancer.
Actually, replacement grills are $120 per PAIR. It's great that they still have them available, and I'm not saying the price is excessive, just that it's beyond my means at the moment. I know hoping to find someone who had 2 of these grills laying around in usable condition was a long shot, but I thought I'd try. Of course, the sound's the same without them, and they're not even that terrible looking w/o the grills covering the can. I think I might try to make a "hat" for lack of a better term out of open cell foam which would cover the entire can, increasing its perceived diameter to about the width of the cabinet at the top. A bit more balanced look. Now all I have to do is find a cheap source of such foam, 1" thick. Something along the lines of the "foam" speaker grills which were fairly common around the time these were made, or a little earlier.
Thanks for the replies.

If you are buying from Ohm make sure they are selling you Walsh 2 grills, not Walsh 2000 (the current version) grills -- they are not the same size. This is why if you buy the upgraded drivers to go from an old 2 to a new 2000 using the old cabs they send you new grills with them.
