I now have NHT towers for my 5.1 system...new Denon AVR X3100. Although the sound from my Sennheiser earphones through the Denon is great, I can't understand the dialogue from the speakers. Anyone have a suggestions?

Have you tried to disconnect the center channel speaker and set up your receiver for a phantom center channel?

Partly kidding, but I'd also say that (at least for vintage Klipsch) most horn speakers don't sound very natural with spoken voice.
Two thoughts on that AVR
It has dialogue adjustments that are "off" by default..........check that out. You can turn it "on" and make +\- 12 adjustments I believe.
It also sets center channel speaker to "small" by default........I've found "large" to work better in most cases when working on other friends systems. The "small" settings seem to really screw up the sound and the local AV guys are the ones that told me about that.
NHT Superzero - best dialogue speakers I've ever heard. No matter what other speakers I tried for tv, you could always tell they were speakers - even the little Gallo's for some reason. If you can, get a remote kit like the Rocketfish (RF-RBKIT or whatever those are) and put the zero's on either side of your sofa - I had mine on end tables. So small they disappeared anyway - a little blutak and they won't go anywhere. Identical to listening to headphones, without the headphones in that configuration. Almost scary. But even when I had them on the floor 8' away partially blocked by a massive coffee table they were still good for dialog.

I watched a movie yesterday that was hard as hell to hear the dialog. You'd crank it to the dialog then there'd be some helicopter or other loud noise that would blow you out of the room.
Try adjusting up the center channel (I can't just a soundbar) but realize some movies just suck for hearing dialog. I was going to post about it and see if anyone knew of a little cheap compressor to put inline w/the dig out from my TV to the sound bar.
It was truly annoying.

If you are still after one you can't do better than this little gem without adding another zero before the decimal point:

Designed and assembled in Texas and yours for $190.
What do you have for a center channel?
Also NHT.....they are about 12 years old or so...when NHT was an audiophile name.
I scanned the manual quickly. I would increase the gain on the dialogue level adjust. See manual page 152. Also consider adjusting the center gain, page 154 and make sure loudness management is turned on.
There is also mention of dialogue normalization in the manual but I did not find how it is set.
Yup...did just that. It was an improvement, but news on broadcast hidef tv sounds better...way better than movies on broadcast hidef tv
If the dialogue is unintelligible, I'd be looking at the center channel. You might try angling it differently to see if things improve. If it's a sideways MTM, then you might need to just get something else.
