I have not seen them in over thirty years. The Dahlquist DQ-1W and the Janis W1 were the last popular ones for home use. Don't forget that you needed an external power amp and xover for this type of subwoofer. I think if you want to go that route you would have to build your own.

A pity. The DQ1W was ok, the Janis was spectacular.

I really don't think that is necessary. There are real nice subs that are made for audio not home theater. SVS is one that I have used and I thought it was pretty damn good! IMO,you don't have to spend the family jewels to get some nice bass anymore!
