I spoke with a fellow from KEF tech today who seemed knowledgable about a center speaker to use with a pair of KEF Reference 107/2s. He asked a number of questions about my setup, then suggested a KEF R 200 C might be a good choice. I'd be interested in comments from anyone who's heard an R 200 C. My experience with Uni-Q is with much earlier units, but he told me Uni-Q has seen much development since then. He was skeptical that an LS50 would be adequate. I was impressed by how seriously KEF took my inquery.

I have one, it's spectacular. VERY impressive.
And yes, the uni-q designs have improved dramatically since their introduction twenty years ago.

I dont see reviews of Centre Channel speakers. Are they reviewed at all? Why are they more expensive than one main speaker?
Cheers

After speaking again with the KEF tech yesterday, I ordered an R 600C, same Uni-Q as the R 200C, but larger LF drivers.

Good choice.. I have a R600c and am very happy with it.
mated to R300's and R400b sub
In addition to the R 600C, I ordered a pair of LS50s to replace my 80s era 102 surrounds. I think a pair of R 300s would have been about the same price, but I don't know how the two compare. I've read lots of rave reviews of the LS50s. If they don't work out as surrounds, I'll move them to the living room setup that now relies on the surprising good speakers of a Sony 46XBR8. That setup has an unused Proceed PAV/PDSD and Amp 2 as well as an Oppo 95.

Let us know what you think when it gets here.

I installed the KEF R 600C today, and it seems a good match for my KEF Reference 107/2s. I've yet to balance the levels, but I've played a range of music and it sounds good. For music, I think I prefer the phantom image the 107/2s generate. For HT and surround music, I'm using a Cary Cinema 11a that has movie and music modes, so I can use the center speaker for movie mode or go with phantom center. For stereo, I use an Ayre C-5xeMP or vinyl through a Parasound JC-2 BP.

After more listening and with some adjusting, the R 600C has won its place as the center between my Reference 107/2s. The speaker is now about 15" away from the rear wall and I installed one of the plugs -- haven't located the other. Adding distance from the rear wall eliminated the exaggerated heaviness in male voices, and results in a sound that scans continuously across the stage whether its Blu-ray or SACD opera, symphonic or jazz. As expected, it's excellent for HT. The phantom image now sounds a bit flat to me, so I prefer to invoke the R 600C for surround sound.

I heard the R300's & LS50's just last weekend. I believe the R300 is about $300.00 cheaper and should be a timbre match for the 600c. For just stereo listening I liked the LS50's slightly better, seemingly a better balance and more open. My friend preferred the more bass the R300 had. Kef is new to my area, I enjoyed them.
