Hi!
I am a total, complete newbie when it comes to audio technology, so please bear with me : )
We have a Samsung smart tv at home, and recently bought Polk R50 speakers. The problem is, I have no idea what we need to put in between them - amplifier, receiver, etc?
Since we're not experts, we'd ideally like to buy something middle-of-the-line: not too expensive, but also not so cheap that it'll break...
I've attached a picture of the back of our tv because I don't know how to explain what all the different input things are, or the tv model (there are too many strings of numbers on the back for me to guess which is which).
If anyone has any advice, I would be forever appreciative! : ) Thank you in advance!
Follow Ups:
I'm using this amp to power a pair of Polk R300's, which have nearly the same sensitivity (89 db vs the R50's 90 db). The combination sounds surprisingly good, a fellow audiophile friend was also impressed with the sound.
My Sony TV has an optical digital audio output, whci I run to a Schitt Bifrost dac, which then drives the Nuforce amp's analog inputs.
Thanks for the suggestion!So... I've just Googled "dac", and I think I understand that I would need one for the Nuforce amp if my TV's audio out is digital, right?
Is it worthwhile to get a dac and the Nuforce amp rather than looking for a digital amp (do they exist? are they better/worse than analog amps?)?
Also, do dac and amp come with all the necessary wiring to connect them to each other and tv and speakers, or do I get that separately?
Thank you!

hahah
actually I have a handheld electric dustbuster that probably has more dB than the speakers... the downstairs neighbors complain about it.
It never hurts to keep a sense of humor with audio. You do need to clean the connectors.
Seriously, try to listen to a few well known brands in your price range and pick the ones that still sound good on your second or third visit to the store. It's not life or death, it's just music. Look for long term happiness.

You could consider buying NAD 316 BEE Integrated amplifier. You can also play CDs and other sources thru this amp.
Good Luck
Bill
Thanks for this recommendation.
Is this the only thing that I would need? TV> amp> speakers? No 'dac'? (or is that what integrated means?)
Would I need to get wires to connect it to tv and speakers, or do they come with it?
Thanks for bearing with my newbie questions!
I would say DAC and other such addons can wait. I suggest quality cables like say Audioquest for speakers. The interconnect cables also should be better quality with gold plated terminals.
Happy listening!
Bill
If it is surround sound, you need a couple more things...
For now it's not surround sound, just getting the speakers to work. In a few months we may move them into our store's showroom, and at that time I don't know whether we'll be using a different tv, or will want surround sound.
Audio out Jack is your Friend. Connect to a small power amp to drive the
loudspeakers. use a 3.5mm stereo to L/R RCA jack cable

Thanks for the recommendation! Now to see if I can get that amp in Canada...
