In Reply to: RE: UK speakers ...Does anyone know the specs and company that produced these?? posted by davenaka on March 13, 2015 at 03:47:27
As a Brit with 50 years knowledge of the UK HI Fi industry I have never heard of them.
The central placement of the tweeter indicates that they are meant for horizontal and not vertical orientation. The two other drivers are not matching so I very much doubt that they are a centre channel of a surround system.
The logotype isn't exactly of professional design.
It looks to me that thse were made as studio monitors to be horizontally mounted perhaps on the console. However my guess is that they are very much cottage industry prooductions from a tiny manufacturer - maybe even one offs or of a very short run. Beyond that i can't add much I am afraid.

It might be a d'Appolito configuration.
Thanks Kal.If you re-read my posting you will see that I also do not think that it is a centre speaker. I do think that it is for horizontal mounting however.
I do not think that it is a D'Appolito design. These are also known as MTM ( Midwoofer/tweeter/Midwoofer)designs . One of the large drive units has a pleated cone which is more typical of woofers. As there are three and not two types of driver it isn't likley to be an MTM. So I think it is what could be termed an "MTW" design which would be more typical of studio monitors used for wide range nearfield monitorimg when bridge mounted. Still I am happy to be found incorrect if that is the case.
Also look at the power handling capabilites of the tweeter (see posting above for identification). 150 -300 watts. Not usual for a domestic speaker but for studio use ...
If the OP posts a picture of the speaker with the grille in place and the logo showing that might be a clue as to correct orientation. Unless, of course the logo can be rotated:-)

Just a guess. It could be a 2 1/2 way speaker for vertical mounting where both drivers are in parallel for the bass and the pleated driver rolls off as the response goes into the mid-range.
Yes, you are right, it could be a 2 1/2 way speaker for vertical mounting. However we now know that it is a white van speaker. I suspect the design criterion was more along the lines of "stuff 3 speakers in a box as that is easier to pass off as a bargain than using only two".
