I was operating under the assumption that he's building a cabinet and wants to modify an existing plan. That's fine with me; you built it, you're responsible for how it turns out. However, one thing I did leave out is that a bigger port will change the volume needed inside the box since the port is 'lost volume.'
And, you're right, it sounds like he needs to read up a bit more on speaker design before tackling something like this.

I have a SBB4 box design with 2 alternative ports from SEAS for the 8" Excel woofer on their. I'd like even more port area, which should be easy given the basic box design I'm planning(which isn't built yet so I can take the bigger port size in to account) and the 53 liter volume cited by SEAS, so the port functions properly at high volumes which smaller ports don't. I kind of remembered a conversion formula once in Hi Fi News but didn't know how to find it in my back issues. Thanks for the help guys.

Exactly my point. In addition, longer port may require larger cabinet dimension in that direction, which may affect the width/heihgt which affects baffle diffraction, and larger port may present greater possibility for midrange leaks. And although too small of the port may be an issues after certain diameter it does not really add any benefits.

You could've just said that in the first place, rather than denegrating/insulting the OP. He simply asked a question.
Oddly, after two replies, you still haven't provided the relevant equations, which leads one to think that you don't know.
