You are correct -- ! did not. But on the theory that more expensive does not necessarily equal better, may I enquire as to other makes one might also consider? I am more interested in sound quality than in price, prestige or art-work.
Thanks,
Jeremy

If size is not a constraint, consider a "Folded Bass Horn" from Inlow sound.
Available anywhere from plans for twenty-five bucks, to finished for $2000 I find to be an absolute steal.
Have fun.
Wow! I've never actually heard deep horn bass in a domestic room. I must discover if there are any examples in my area. Inlow's looks like a fine carpentry project at very least.
Thanks, Craiger56!

Also see Danley Sound Labs..
Best, Craig
Thanks again, Craig.
You obviously prefer horn subs. May I ask what particularly recommends them to you? I understand the efficiency advantage, but is there something specific about their sound quality on the lowest notes?
By the way, you have so far brought to my attention the names of 2 passive sub makers of whom I'd not heard before, not to mention a whole new scope for enquiry -- horn subs. So far you are bating 1.000!
Jeremy
You're very welcome.
I'm only recommending the "top quality" passive subs I know exist. Products from talented designer/engineers that have put their heart and soul into their products.
I would include Dave Wilson.
As for horn sub sound, the Inlow at least is a compression horn design, and in my humble opinion has the potential to make simpler designs sound lazy in comparison, but there may be little point in that if the rest of one's system is not up to speed.
My own take on subwoofers, after starting with one then adding a second is two subs are WAY better than one, in how much smoother they blend. Peaks and nulls easily heard with one, became all but inaudiable with two, and crescendos that should sound big, sound big.
Inmate "Duke" has made good arguments for running four small subs.
At the High Efficiency Asylum I think it's "Hornlover" that has shown some very nice designs over the years, but his info page doesn't say what he makes at this time.
Sunday's are slow here, you'll get more info tomorrow, but do give as many details as you can, related components, room size and construction, listening level, etc.
I hope you find what you're looking for, Craig
