I do not know the speakers but I too think cabinet design is still overlooked. Seems many recognize cabinet issues in designs but few do anything to address it other than trying to make it "dead". I actually find speakers I like are an intragal part of the voicing and are not just deadened boxes.
As for using aluminum, I do not see anything wrong with it provided it is done right. I have owned a set of ADS L300s that are the earliest aluminum enclosure speakers and preferred them to the later issued wood box version. I even like the aluminum version of the Minimus 7 than the world version, the 7W. There is no reason the enclosures can not be upscale, though using aluminum adds complexity in the design to prevent ringing, reflections, etc. over wood product cabinets.

Voicing a speaker with the cabinet colorations is the best you can do. But those colorations are undamped vibration and do not stop when the signal stops so they obscure the signal. And even a small amount of vibration is significant because the enclosure is large in area compared to the drivers. Starting with a relatively dead cabinet(since there is no such thing as a completely dead cabinet) and then voicing it is the best we can do. But most commercial cabinets are not nearly dead enough because it costs too darn much money.
Hi and thanks for the very interesting advice
I made some experiments with speakers one of which was an attempt to deaden the enclose with lead sheets apllied to the panels from inside.
The bass actually cleaned up but the "deadening" also seemed to deaden the sound
But one thing was very clear. The influence of cabinet on sound.
Now to design and build the perfect cabinet is indeed a challenge.
At Audio Machina they seem to be on the right track from what i have read.
And once nailed the right concept this can be upscaled for bigger drivers and different drivers.
Thanks again.
Kind regards,
