Have you ever tried the John Risch tweak which involves connecting the negative terminals on each speaker in addition to bi-wiring??

I have not, never heard about it. What resulted from doing so?

a more "organic" soundstage - sound all cut from the same cloth if you will - AND, I think, improved detail retrieval.
Incredibly cheap and easy and readily reversible if you care to try it for yourself.

$heet, if that's subtle, I'd love to hear impressive! Just got a chance to try it. That is the difference between listening to a CD, and listening to an instrument. He was talking about dissimilar cables in the post I saw, and I use Goertz with zobels, so I really wasn't expecting much, but did I get a surprise! These Vandersteens just keep sounding better and better all the time! That also cured the imaging issues I was experiencing. With the Yeflon caps and this jumper I'm loving Vandersteens!

Teflon has turned into quite the problem solver.
Yes and no! It lays bare bad designs. Not just Teflon, when I started tinkering I was using more MultiCap RTX and Black Gates, but I quickly figured out you could not make junk sound like high end, you just made it sound more like junk. Some may say Vandersteens are not high end. Perhaps not, but they are good, and good can often be made to sound better because manufacturers HAVE to meet price points, I don't!

Vandy is value-based w/ the (2) series. It offers an entry to the high-end. Sounds great w/ tubed or solid-state gear. Easy to set-up and integrate into any room / listening space. The 3A model is particularly well-voiced, IMO.
Vertical listening position is critical. Tilt back - or - unlikely - tilt forward. Vandersteen has a chart for this that I can scan and forward if you like. And, thanks for your admission/observation that they sound tonally accurate. I require a piano to sound like a piano. an oboe like an oboe - well - you know what I mean.............
Glad you're getting some pleasure from them. I WAS a bit nonplussed at your earlier observations as you might well expect.
All the best,

Sure, I would appreciate it, these do have sound anchors on them. I have always known about tilting speakers backwards, but I don't recall getting a chart when I bought my 1C's (I think they were Cs could have been Bs). Anyway, I need to revise my original post, well I think I'll repost, but these are now bright on some Sinatra material. I think it's the metal domes. They are the equal in most if not all ways, and superior in many ways to my Jim Hotlz 3, but I increasingly believe that metal domes are bright and you lose detail when you try to tame them. Wondering about trying to replace the metal domes and tweaking the HF crossover to make that work now. I just don't know how else to approach it. My silk dome tweeters have all the detail, but are NOT harsh, or bright.

Lou
