Cardboard, given that it's the best thing we have right now, is easily worth spending money on. Keeping in touch with our thoughts and feelings is one of the by-products of music appreciation and this "keeping in touch" is certainly worth at least as much as the cost of a new moped, if not more.

Hi and i am not sure to understand fully also because English, unfortunately, is not my mother language
But .. who would eat cardboard ?
Answer, no one sane of mind. And i stress no one.
To spend big money for this would be even more insane.
Instead many people, apparently sane of mind, study, test, invest in audio systems.
So the comparison is completely wrong. Not applicable.
The few times that i have experienced very good playback it was almost and uplifting experience, for some aspects even better than the real thing.
I remember for instance a gregorian chant from Acapella speakers.
I was moved.
I am sure that if i had been present to the concert i would have been less moved. I am sure of that.
Usually the position is not optimal. The people are annoyingly noisy.
They almost expectorate sometimes. Hardly an uplifting experience.
People who appreciate or better love music know this and they face the difficult task to set-up a system to get some kind of emotion.
If i were rich i would invest much much more in a dedicated listening room, a room more similar to a place of worship than a normal home room.
Besides i think that high efficiency speakers are the way.
Thanks again for the reply.
Kind regards,
bg

LOL - expectorate. I know what you mean! And, there's no quiet way to unwrap candy in a concert hall. And fussy little kids. And people pushing their feet on the back of your seat. And people who constantly whisper during the performance. And, and...
:)
Hi and sorry for the exaggeration
But for me music listening is an intimate experience
Even at the audio fairs i cannot stand people who keep on talking when in the room the music is playing
If they want to talk there is the bar.
Kind regards,
bg
