I said they were designed and built by Dick Sequerra, and they're a little 2-way. I don't know the frickin' model number, if there even is one.

...Sequerra Met 7 speakers, if I recall.I bought a black pair 1982, right after they were introduced, to use with my subwoofers when I sold my Dahlquist DQ-10s.
Inexpensive, decent sound for the money but nothing to write home about.
We had just gotten married and lived in an apartment waiting for our house to be built.
The speakers have evolved since then and I have not heard them again.

I wonder, could there have been something wrong with the review sample used in that very negative review? Sam Tellig reviewed them around the same time frame and praised the heck out of them. He called them a rather mellow sounding "music lovers" speaker, if I recall correctly. They were then listed as a Stereophile "Class B" component.I've always thought that it is difficult to predict how an individual might perceive the sound of any component. Comments made here and elsewhere would certainly lend credence to that idea...

...I would trust Stereophile over Darby.
Sequerra was noted for his Metronome series. IIRC, they are up to a Met7 or 8 currently. The first Met, IMHO, sounded better than the acclaimed LS-50, maybe not as extended on the top end ( Sequerra used a paper cone tweeter), but the mids were fabulous. Most have had the foam deteriorate on the woofers (5 inch) by now, however.
I thought the originals were more engaging than the current models, but of course
YMMV
Settle down Nancy. No harm done.......
