Linn Keilidh ?
Does anyone know why the Linn Keilid are so reasonable on the used market ? They get fantastic reviews, well built, Older, but very respected. North of $2K when new, but now they are bringing between $250 and $350. I'm trying to decide on whether to bid on one of two pairs. One with bases, one is without. Please chime in if your are familiar with these particular Linn's.

Get the ones with the bases. You need to run them active to get the best out of them, the active mode makes a significant difference in the sound.
..stay well away. They sound distinctly mono in the systems I have heard them in.
Decent value at that price, but you may as well just buy one speaker.
fairly open, decent highs, a "fast" sound. A little midrange coloration, not very deep bass, but surprisingly fast and transparent.
Certainly a very good speaker for the used $. At those prices they are about as good as you'll get.
Very nice cabinets, too.
Can you think of something comparable to the Linn's sonically ? I have a small collection of Ar's. 1pr of Ar-1's, 1pr. of LST's, 2 pr. of Ar-3a's, etc. They stay in storage for the most part. Love the sound, but I now have a much bigger room to fill with music. The Ar's just don't handle the power and it's way to expensive to test their limits.

I owned a pair of Kelidhs back in the 1990s with an all Linn system and started out with Linn this way.
As in all Linn speakers they really need to be active to get the most out of them especially with an all Linn system, Linn plays very well together.
I eventually traded up to Kabers and made them active as well with 3 Linn Klout amps.
With a Rel Storm sub it was some of the best sound I ever had.
Sorry I got rid of that system now.
IMO and experiences Linn 'sounds' ARE an aquired taste.
It comes as unlivable to many after their purchase.
While others Love it. You may love 'em.. or You may not.
But at that price not too expensive an experiment
