Right or wrong, we used to think of them as KLH 5s without the midrange driver.

Jim; I agree to a point as the 23's do have some what of a "hole" between 2500 and 5000 hz.
The 17's are a better speaker in my opinion even though they are a 2 way as well. They don't go as low as the 23's but they sound much more refined.
Interestingly, I stacked the 17's (upside down) atop the 23's and the sound was H-U-G-E and quite good. Not very practical, but I have done stranger things when better than half way through a case of beer.....
........I was a vegetarian for 15 minutes... until the main course.

Thanks all you responders,I got some good tips and know how. With the same style drivers, not the same,but in size, these speakers weigh at least twice as much as the Dynas...thanks for all your help...Mark K
