The shop was able to compare the Nola Boxer with the much praised KEF LS50.
PrimaLuna Prologue was amp, Rega Jupiter the Source. Burmeister Demo II Disc for music.
The Nolas were significantly better than the KEFs, IMHO. I can see why some would like the KEF - very neutral speaker, but they quickly became "congested" at higher volumes.
The Nolas remained open and emotionally engaging, with a "warmth" of sound that I liked.
The Nolas also had impressive bass for the size of enclosure.
So, I left being pretty sure I would trade the Heresy's for the Nolas (plus some cash).
However, more listening at home with the Heresy's have me keeping them for now. There seems to be a neutrality and smoothness in the Heresy midrange that I link.
At some point, I may go back to the shop with the Heresy's and my own test discs, and A/B the Nolas and the Heresy's. It will then be interesting to see which pair I take home and which pair I leave behind. (Alas, the days seem to be past when I could bring the Nolas home to listen to in my own system.)
Follow Ups:
The Boxers are designed to sit up high on stands while the Heresys are designed to sit down low on the floor. I think that I might have some trouble comparing the "musical values" of the Boxers to that of the Heresys, because I would be tempted to let the superior soundstaging capabilities of the Boxers sway me over during an A/B listening test. The two speakers are just so different from each other!

I actually use my Heresys in a stand-mounted position without the risers.
That was also the position favoured in the review in The Absolute sound:"The somewhat “heretical” antidote was to ignore the floor riser and actually raise the speakers off the floor by about two feet so as to position the tweeter at about ear level. The end result was a much more neutral balance. Stand-mounting the Heresy, as one would do with monitor-style speakers, offered another important benefit. Eliminating the floor loading reduced the magnitude of the midbass response hump, which was responsible for plummy, muddled bass. . . ."

Thank You! dvb.
I agree that the Klipsch can do well sitting on the floor.
