I setup the ES3s in my bedroom on Sound Anchor stands.
Problem is they don't bloom like they did in my main system. I'm thinking it is the amplification I am using? Looking for thoughts,
I use a Bel Canto S300 amp, in my main system I was using Bel Canto REF500s and the sound is night and day.
Would you recommend a tube integrated for the Harbeths? Or something solid state in terms of an integrated? I've been looking at Luxman but that is extremely expensive for my budget, I was thinking of getting a Yaqin tube integrated, under $800 or so, but then I'm not sure about that either.
Someone recommended to look into Accuphase but unfortunately at this time it is not going to happen with my budget.
My budget is about $1K, amplification is Bel Canto S300 and preamp is PS Audio Preamp. Looking to replace the pre/amp chain with an integrated.
Maybe I should wait until I get more funds, I want to do this right. Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated.

Harbeths don't bloom until late July or early August typically.
But seriously, bedrooms are tricky as others have said. In ours there are areas with absolutely no bass at all, and other areas that are boomy. Fortunately, the best, most balanced listening spot just so happens to be where our pillows are. So, not particularly good for showing off the system to friends, at least not friends who you don't want to lie down on your bed. But great for us.

How far from the bed are the speakers? Is there anything on the floor between you and the speakers? It sounds like you have a room furnishings problem. I am not familiar with your amps, but I wouldnt spend money on different amps if you were happy with the same brand in the other room.
I am listening from the bed, It's got to be a lot more than I was thinking. I'm fiddling with speaker positioning, I think they are too close to the wall, also the bed is about 6 foot from the speakers.
My main system I do most of my listening, however I need some sort of my system in my bedroom, for you know... when it's time to put on Barry White ;)
...when you put on Barry White, you shouldn't be listening to the speakers for "bloom" ;-)
Ok, the bed is canceling out some of your low frequencies and probably absorbing some of the highs. You just can't expect much in that sort of environment. If you can, you could try hanging the speakers from the ceiling.
Are Harbeth's supposed to "bloom"?
What does "Bloom" mean?
I'd have thought they'd be very neutral, in the BBC monitor tradition.
It sounds like a room issue to me.
If you temporarily move the Harbeths back to the main system and drive them with the S300 do they perform as expected? I'm just wondering if the room or the source is the issue rather than amplification.
they don't perform as well as the REF500 in the same main system area.
perhaps I am looking for a problem that I should just deal with, there is a bed in the bedroom, it could be the room. It does sound great, just not blooming. Might be a power output difference in the amps, also better preamp in the main system. lots of variables. listening position, etc...
I'm going to experiment a bit with some other configurations before I decide on a new amp / pre chain.
thanks.
