Studio Monitors can be great if you know (or are willing to learn) how to set them up. They are marketed to people who are supposed to be technically knowledgeable. They are probably not appropriate to the average consumer.PS I love my Focals, but they were a bitch to set up.

Hi Tony!
I don't think you meant to put a "not" before "marketed!"
I love my JBLs and they were a breeze to set up. I actually stumbled upon them when my old PC speakers unexpectedly died and coincidentally Amazon was having a sale. I wasn't expecting much more than more durability than the average PC speaker. Instead I got a sound that I found simply amazing for the modest amount of money I spent. Since I've gotten them I find I'm spending more time in front of the PC than before, and that the big rig is languishing more than it used to do.
That's not to say that the little monitors can outperform the big speakers, far from it, and certainly not in the living room, but in the constrained environment of a desk siting they can do astounding things for very little money.
All the Best!
JE
Thanks. I removed the erroneous "not".
