Those 10, 12, and 15" Dayton drivers are terrific for subs. However, as I interpret your design intentions, they're not suitable as down firing woofers.

Wow, this is new to me. So what makes a specific driver a good candidate for a floor firing sub vs conventional sub, everything else remaining the same? I always thought that because of non-directionality of low frequency radiation it doesn't matter which way the driver fires.
The link didn't refer to reproduction directionality but to physical sagging of the sub due to its mass while facing down. Over time the weight of the driver will cause it to be out of alignment, not resting in the middle of the gap..
