I was fortunate to pick these up locally over the weekendThey are amazing speakers, but I am finding too much bass on quite a few songs, but when they sing, they really sing, adding texture that my Maggie 3.5Rs missed. Certainly, that could be from choice of amplifier, but...
Anybody have simple ideas to reign in the woofers just a tad?
They are in a huge room. Since taking the pic, they are now ~ 2ft farther apart ~ 6ft from the front wall and 4ft from side walls
Pic shows ports stuffed, but I took them out. Maybe need to try that again
Since they are biwired, was also wondering whether the bass is only the lower woofer. If so, I could disconnect it and add my subwoofer, which I can adjust
Thanks
See pic

This would not have happened had you bought the Gallo Ref. 3.1s. Plus, the Gallos are worlds better looking. I'm just sayin'...[g]

I like it!
My room is so huge, I was not certain the Gs would be any different than my Maggies, as far a creating a decent spl.
The Swans were <40 miles away, and < $500. I figured if they didn't light up my space, they would be a significant upgrade on my TV set up
I reinserted the foam plugs, but only half way.
Much better
And for $500, well who can argue with that!

I know, right?
Since I reinserted the foam plugs (not included) half way instead of all the way, the bass has tightened up. When I had them all the way in, the bass virtually disappeared
Hoping the link to adjustable inserts comes my way
I would start by stuffing the ports to varying degrees as you already alluded to. You could even lightly fill the ports with poly fill.As always, fine tuning is a personal preference - what sounds right is right.
I have seen in the past "vari- ports". These allow one of open and close the ports incrementally.
I think a lot of speakers are bass heavy as they are set up to wow the customer in a 15 minute store audition.
........I was a vegetarian for 15 minutes... until the main course.
