Looking to get feedback on this setup. I currently have an Emotiva XPA-5 which is 200 watts into 8 ohms and 300 into 4 ohms.
Would the XPA-2 be that much better for the 1.6's ? It is rated at 300 (8) and 500 (4). I'm not sure how power hungry the 1.6's are, hence the questions. The room is treated and is 20x18 . Speakers are on the longer wall. Seats are 9 feet from the speakers.
They will be used in a ht setup with about 60% movies, 40 % music.
Thanks
Follow Ups:
The Emotiva 5 channel gear is not happy running two channels for extended periods.
I ran the 1.6 pair with several amps including the Emotiva XPA-2 and XPA-3. My best pick was the Odyssey Stratos with a Rogue Metis preamp. The combo was not crazy expensive, had beautifil balance and plenty of steam for the Maggies. By comparison the Emotiva gear failed to get the better soundstaging. For the Maggies I'd look for a used Odyssey Stratos over the Emotiva.
Note: I use the Emotiva gear and love it for my home theater. They also do fine for music, but the Maggies are demanding at times and prefer to get their way.
Cheers,
Rob

Thanks Rob
Might want to move this over to Planar Asylum. Are you running a powered sub? IF so, I'd guess that the smaller of the two Emotiva amps would be fine in that sized room (not too large) ....
