I lost track of Advent years ago after selling my old "Larger Advents", the classic ones most known about.
But this pair is available locally to me for cheap: "Advent Prodigy II Towers"; 28" tall.
Can anyone tell me about the sound and vintage of these?
Thanks,
Don
Follow Ups:
They don't have the cache of the original Advent speakers, as they were manufacturered when Jensen owned the Advent name. These were manufactured beginning in the late 80s, retailed for about $350, and the 5/89 review in Stereo Review was enthusiastic about the "best in class" response and tone burst performance etc. I had a pair that I enjoyed for several years with NAD amplification. I always thought their in-room bass response went a little lower than the spec but they are placement-sensitive. Versatile with acoustic music, jazz, rock, but they aren't for head banging.
Frequency Response: 45-23,000Hz +- 3dB
Efficiency: 89dB 1w @ 1m
Nominal Impedance: 8Ω nominal / 4Ω minimum
Cross-over frequency: 3kHz
Recommended Minimum Power amplifier rating: 10 watts

they'll need refoaming if they haven't already had it done
Thanks. Good info. The pair I've found are selling for $95. I was intrigued by the Advent name, having lost interest when I sold my classics. I'm still wondering how smart that was.
I am still wondering why I kept my large Advent only for 2 years.I did consider my Rogers better. That was one of the reasons.Second reason was that my brother kept saying it had no high frequencies and that it was dull sounding.I couldnt get over them comments.I finally ended up selling the Advent and presenting the Rogers to him when he got married.
Cheers
Bill
