I want to set up my Epos ES-12's, but I have no stands. Looking for something rigid, but easy to move around while I look for the right spot. For cheap and rigid, cinder blocks come to mind, but I dread the thougth of lugging 2 or 3 pairs of them up a flight of steps. Plus they will not slide around on the carpeted floor.
Once I find the right spots I will look into some attractive, functional stands.
So, any clever ideas for cheap, temporary, non-resonant stands in the 24-30 inch height range? TIA...

The TV stands are a great idea - stable, inexpensive, easy to adjust toe-in, and easy to decouple the speakers from. And I can return them when I am finished.
Great job on the DIY stands. Not a bad idea when it comes to cost savings and customization. I will keep that idea in mind when it comes time to set them up permanently.
Thanks!
I used 2 of the wooden chairs from the kitchen dinette with Vib-X pads between them and the speakers, and it worked pretty well. Had to return the chairs to the breakfast nook at dinner time.
The milk crates aren't a bad idea as long as the speakers are decoupled from them. This is strictly for placement experimentation. Once I get a good feel for where and how they should be situated in the room I will begin the search for stands. I met a local carpenter who I may have construct some custom, adjustable stands.
Plastic isn't good for isolation either, esp milk cartons.

Stackable plastic storage crates (milk crates). Put something flat on top of them to place your speakers on - wood, tiles, books, etc...
