Thanks John - $19,0000 odd had certainly been my impression but I understand that the Diapason has had a major revision. My local distributor says the price has gone up 50% but I have been unable to establish a US price for the recent revision.

Only thing I had heard was that the Obelisk had had a major revision that put the price up (again) and IIRC it was $6600 or so. IIRC, the original Obelisk was under $1000 a pair. But that was when the dollar was not a joke.
It is possible that the lessons learned on the Obelisk upgrade "trickled up" to the Diapason.
There is a website for Shahinian and there are phone numbers on it--why not just phone them?

Your point about the dollar being a joke is to my advantage. I am in Australia but the price I have been given by the local distributor seems excessive in view of our current near parity conditions. Neither Shahinian or the distributor have been willing to tell me what the current American price is.
All been a bit frustrating - the distributor would be providing an ordering and warranty service but seemingly wants to charge for a full service ie stocking, demo, home demo etc when none of that is provided.
I have no problem with people getting paid for their efforts and service.I am having to take a significant risk as the distributor can not demo the speaker.
This is all predicated on what I am led to understand via private communications that the price has risen by. Hence my question in the public domain as private communication has not been helpful.
What price does an American pay for Shahinain Diapsons?
