I purchased brass cones from Meniscus http://meniscusaudio.com/extra-points-p-208.html to attach under my Studio 100's. I am placing onto wooden floors. I purchased these because of the rounded tip instead of deadly sharp foot piercing spiked end for carpet. I noticed that the weight of the Studios causes the tips to indent the wooden floor. I was thinking about placing the round disc brass feet which come with the speakers, under the cones positioned into the threaded hole for spikes. Would this create problem in resonance? Or Would it be better to just use the round brass feet instead of the cone points?
Is there a better solution to protect the wooden floors?
Follow Ups:
If you want something unobtrusive under the speakers, you could use felt pads from the hardware store. A couple of small pieces of carpet or carpeted mats would keep the speakers off the wood floor, too.

After several ineffectual attempts with other solutions I found Sorborthane to work for my situation involving suspended wood flooring.
See thread below from last year that addresses the issue.
The amount of Sorborthane one needs is directly proportional to the weight of the speaker subwoofer. (This may apply to other solutions too, I guess). Most audiophiles simply to try solutions in a trial and error method (like I have done in the past) with disappointing results. I learned (not from sales staff, but from two Sorborthane engineers) that because my bass modules are heavy (around 200 pounds) I required 14 Sorbothane pads underneath each one for them to be effective. Much less than that would squish them too much; too many would be too muvh of a good thing.
Because I required so much I found that it was a lot cheaper for me to buy them in bulk. (Although, Sorborthane is not an expensive solution) So, I purchased a lot more than I needed. Based on the 80 pound weight of your Studio 100,s you would require about 5 per speaker. They would need to be spread as evenly as possible beneath the speaker.
So here is my offer... completely free....to you (assuming that you are in the US). I will send you 10 thirty duro Sorbothane pads. The only thing I ask is that you try them out and post your results here. I would like an independent view as to how they work in a different situation from my own. If they work for you keep them. If they don't work I ask that you send them back.
Of course, our situations are different; among them is that I use the Sorbothane pads strictly for the bass; you would be using them on a full range speaker. I'm not sure or not if that would make a difference. But it may be worth a try.

Hi,
I have studio 100 v2's and I use Herbie's fat dots underneath the round footers and they do a great job decoupling them from my wood floor. Without them, the bass was not as defined and when I put them in, it worked wonders. Problem solved.
I am going to try the brass feet which came with the Studios under the cones...See picture. Any opinions as to what I will experience with this combo.... It is hard to maneuver these as they are heavy and I do not want to mar up the floor any more then they already are! If this does not work at least it allows me to move the speakers in to place until I can get a penny or quarter underneath. I was also thinking about using a neoprene washer between the cone and speaker. I understand that this may decouple but the threaded insert is still in the direct path (coupled)of the vibrations/ resonance. I needed to get these off the floor and had to do it on the cheep . Any suggestions to this setup please....

The idea of points is very high pressure to couple the speaker to the floor. If you put a small round device under the point this is now the coupling and the pressure on the floor is way less and the coupling is reduced. Whether this is good or not is up to your ear but you are wasting the points.
Well, I got it all together and sat down for a listen with the Stereophile test cd.. Compared to the speaker directly on the floor, Deep black background, huge veil lifted, much more information, separated and defined. Enough to warrant placing the ERS sheets on the speakers and Cd player...... Much better.. Ahhhh! Now to mess with my other tweaks...There does seem to be less impact and information in the upper low end.... Man this is a crazy hobby! I know this setup is not optimal but it does seem to work ok somewhat..... Time and more listening will tell....
