I found someone who says he's willing to sell his Renaissance 90s, Krell KSA 150, Krell KSP-7B PreAmp, and Krell CD DSP 1992 for a the sum total of $800. I've only seen one picture of the equipment. Everything looks ok. To me this seems like fantastice deal if true. Of course it is all older equipment. I don't know much about the Krells. I'm looking for some opinions on the deal and opinions on how this setup would sound.

Hi. I've had a pair of Ren 90s since 1995. There is a dedicated group of Infinity lovers worldwide(check out the Infinity group on Yahoo) and the Ren 90s are worth more than the total price of all the equipment. You do want to be sure that all the drivers are OK as it can be expensive finding replacements and/or repairs.

At that price, they would already be in my truck. If they are working, they are worth at least 3x that amount on the used market. You could sell one piece on audiogon and own the rest outright. Either they're trashed, he doesn't know what he has, or doesn't care.
The impression I got from the add was that he was hard up for cash. I haven't been able to get a response from him, so he's either sold them already or he's changed his mind. Looks like someone may have gotten a great deal, but hopefully he'll get in touch with me soon.
If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. You wrote that you have only seen a picture. Does that mean that won't be able to see the real thing, until you hand over the money?
Buyer, beware! Ask for a demo before purchasing and bring your favorite CD's to sample. I recall, that the Infinity Renaissance 90s were well received in the 1990s. If the deal is legit, then you'll have a nice deal.
I would not buy without checking out the equipment. It would mean a road trip, but well worth it imho if legit. Yes, the speakers are the main draw for me, but the Krells would make for a nice 2 speaker setup and would probably be better than the Marantz SR9600 I have at the moment. I suppose I could get my RX-V1 repaired, but I'm not sure thatn'd be much better.
Hello!
Are these speakers still available for sale?
Let me know.
Thank you
Once you go Ribbon...it's hard to go back. I've auditioned Focals, Vandy's, Revel and a few other's. There is just something about the EMIM and EMIT that is so right. Plus nice tight bass down to the upper 20hz region with the Watkins dual voice coil driver.
Levinson, Aragon and Jolida with Mullards.
