I've always thought I had my ProAc D15's positioned fairly well in a 45 degree diagonal placement - but I have never been totally happy with my soundstage. I got Jim Smith's Get Better Sound book for Christmas and per his recommendation, I created a centerline and did some precise measuring with a Stanley FatMax laser tool. I was floored at the difference a few inches make - especially toe-in! Best example - I now hear the dog barking in the R Waters Amused to Death CD way far out to the right. Up to now I couldn't figure out what the fuss was about. Highly recommended book and positioning technique!

you have very limited adjustment areas?
My speakers (ML Ascent i's) are within five inches, give or take, of where they can be adjusted, do to furniture and space. Walls can't be treated because of decor. Large space.
Are there worthwhile tips for a system like this? Don't want to spend $45 for a shelf spacer.
Jimbill, there are alot of tips in the book, it covers every thing , not just speaker placement. if you go to his site you can look at the table of contents and see what is covered.I like the book and I find it will be a great benefit for me and the sound I will get in my home. Greg
I have the same book for Christmas as well , I setup my Eminent tech VIIIB what a difference it made in the sound in my home. Great book for anyone who cares about sound. Greg
