I am looking for opinions on maybe a new pair of loudspeakers. I listen mostly to vinyl spun on a Technics SL1200 with KAB damper and a Dynavector 10X5. This is fed thru a Project Tube Box into a Jolida 502BRC. I am currently using Klipsch RF5 loudspeakers. All in all, not a bad sounding system, particually with R&R. Here's what I'm looking for. Basically, something that retains the positive aspects of the Klipsch [detail / speed / easy to drive] while having a good bit more in terms of tone and presence. I don't mind and actually like the "forward" quality of the Klipsch. I want to keep that, have a purer midrange and maybe a bit deeper, warmer bass response. Budget under 4K new. Any suggestions?
Follow Ups:
If you like forward speakers + detail + dynamics + neutrality, these two brands have many speakers you might want to hear. The ATCs are more neutral and revealing. I do not own either brand. If you have a lot of money to spend and want something that is forward and "romantic", but still pretty detailed, take a look at the Wilson Benesch Arc. I do love these speakers, but they cost more than my whole system.

Good suggestion of ATCs and Dynaudio from a viewpoint of sonic character. Unfortunately the typically comparatively low sensitivity of these designs (think around 85dB or less for small ATCs) mandates normally using amplifiers of circa 150W/channel+. I think that the OP's 60W/channel amp will be challenged unless he listens quietly to string quartets in a small room. Remember that he currently uses speakers of high sensitivy.
From his later posting he also wants deep full bass which means the bigger models from these companies' ranges which will, in turn, comprehensively bust his budget.

Check out the Monitor Audio GS20's or GS60's. I have the 60's, which I bought for many of the reasons you list (detail, transparency, speed), though they are not warm or cool in terms of bass.
Two speakers come to mind.
The Phase Technology pc1.5 $1100 and the Eminent Technology lFT-16 $980. The Eminent's are only 86db but they are an easy load.
Did you sell your all Rega system?
Dennis
about $400. and a little larger cabinet and no grills?....Just wondering....I hadn't seen those before....
TWB,
See the attached thread from AVS forum. At the bottom of the thread there are some posts from a member named TDI Driver. He is a Phase TEch dealer. The 1.5's use the darts tweeter, no longer use the antidifraction foam around the tweeter, and use a new honeycomb flat piston driver.

Hi Dennis. Yes, my all Rega system is gone. My wife wanted a home theater set up in our bedroom so I sold the Rega set up, bought a very nice 42" LG high def TV and the electronics and speakers [Denon & Paradigm] to go with it. I was never much interested in home theater but I must say I enjoy the hell out of it. Signed up for Direct TV, got every movie and sport channel they offer. I may never step foot in a movie theater again. It's really nice to lay in bed and watch state of the art television. Who knew? :) My current basement system is made up of things I had, except the Jolida, which I bought new. The large Klipsch rock but I really am used to something a little more, um, refined. I want a speaker large enough to fill my basement, deep, full bass, fast detailed mids and treble, easy to run from my Jolida. Shouldn't be too much to ask for, should it?
Merle,
I never thought I would recommend JBL to anyone, but the L880 might be what you are looking for. It just received a rave review from a British Magazine, HIFI+? I read the review a few weeks ago and I remembered that the description of the speakers sounds exactly what you are looking for. They were described as forward sounding with deep bass with a very articulate top end. The L series isn't the crap available in Best Buy. I was reviewed with tubes and matched up very well.
I'm not sure of the MSRP.
Dennis
I see you don't accept email Merle. I could send you some pictures offline if so. I have some ideas for you to ponder
