This guy has a bad reputation for a good reason. He has turned from a rude guy to a real crook. I sent him the fund to buy a Nordost cable for more than 3 months and so far there is no sign of delivery. He either ignore my email or reply very rudely. I guess legal action is inevitable. He is a realy shame to the HiFi indistry. Tell you friend to stay away from this guy no matter how cheap his product is.

Not the full story as always. This buyer made an offer to buy a special order cable with different terminations that was not in stock. He was aware that there would be a wait time. This order was shipped over 2 months ago, of course he also neglected to update.
In fact the buyer neglected to even let us know that he wired the money to our bank account (every day MSS bank account has dozens of transactions with multiple incoming and outgoing wire transfers). We only became aware of it after he was back in touch after a month. The delivery time for this order was longer than usual due to this, and the fact that the offer was so low that we had to wait for Nordost to run one of their several yearly specials to place an order just to be profitable in this sale.
For the record, MSS HiFi has never not delivered a paid order. In very few occasions, full refunds were given. We have been in business since 1996, and we sell $10mil a year worldwide.
Click the link below. Very strongly in favor of the plaintiff, Bel Canto Design.

You've got to admit that the prick has balls. Either that, or he is insane. He's going down; I don't know when, but he's going down.
Brian thanks for that info great read. i would think Bel canto has also probably notified the NY State District Attorney so more will come out of this for fraud.
That was a fun read. But what happens after the Temporary Restraining Order expires today (two weeks from Aug 25)?
That was my question as well, since I believe it expired yesterday. However, he might not get away with much if anything because he will be watched. Time will tell.

A temporary restraining order is just that: temporary. Typically, it is the first of a two-pronged effort that buys the aggrieved party time to demonstrate to the court that a more permanent injunction is justified. Bel Canto's counsel has probably already filed a demand for injunctive relief with the court which, if granted, would permanently bar Mr. Boey from ever misrepresenting his relationship with Bel Canto, mislabeling Bel Canto products and the like.
That said, the scope of the restraining order (and injunctive relief) would be limited to actions that are deceptive or misrepresent MSS HiFi's relationship with Bel Canto. MSS HiFi could undoubtedly continue selling Bel Canto products that it legitimately acquired (such as by purchasing used components) so long as it didn't misrepresent or mislabel those items.
Now, where are the other manufacturers with whom MSS HiFi claims to have a special bond?

Scott
Great read Brian. They are still advertising Bel Canto gear on their website. Hard to believe they remain in business.
He's had a bad rep for a long time , I'm surprised anyone deals there .
Thanks all who provides comments. If you happen to know anyone who has been ripped off or scammed by this guy, please ask your friend to contact me and see if we can take the group action against him.
Hi all ! I have purchased 3 items from these guys . A Cary 03 tube preamp , a VTL ST-85 and a PS audio powerplant . All arrived as advertised and on time .
Don't be naive. I have deal with him for more than 3 times before. This guy has no sense of customer relationship nor business ethic, he will screw you whenever he can. There are many examples here. If you are willing to take your chance, try to deal with him few more times and you will see.
.
He would run ads in Stereophile saying that if you bought a system from him he would set you up with a hooker. He was previously known as the audio pimp. Personally I think he should of kept that name. It suits him.
as being a donkey's behind, (not too mention your posts here), - it shows a real lack of self-introspection.
But, I guess it makes it understandable that you're behaving badly, and getting kicked off other forums...
"I'm not locked in here with you, You're locked in here with ME"
You are correct.
A few years ago I knowingly took a chance and stupidly purchased a pair of used Grado sr-325 headphones, because they were the rare & old black aluminum version. It arrived with a raging case of "grattle" in one channel; this warrants a replacement driver and anyone who'd bothered to listen to the cans would have immediately noticed it. I didn't bother to take up a complaint, based on their terrible reputation (a futile fight) and the relatively low impact of the purchase - just cut my losses.
I also know an online acquaintance that had serious issues with a used Northstar amp purchased from them.
File them squarely under your "douchebag junk peddlers" folder.

Have seen a few of his ads on the craigslist here in Seattle...what a jerk!
Come to the Darkside. We have cookies.
but a search for MSS HI-FI on the asylum here would have saved you this trouble--a lot of posts on this in the last couple of years....it's amazing he's still in business.
use a credit card where you can simply refuse to pay if no goods are ever delivered.

I walk past the storefront occasionally and have never been tempted to step inside. I don't know the dealer's reputation, but I know the neighborhood well enough to be suspicious.
Isn't his main showroom in Chestnut Ridge. AKA So. Spring Valley? That is not a bad neighborhood, are you refering to his other showroom on RT 59? I've never been to neither but he's very close to where I live and used to check out his website frequently. Don't think I'll be purchasing anything from him anytime in the near future
Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Maybe some legal action along with a signed petition from those scammed from this filth could put him out of business for good, I hope. Good luck.

This is old news for most, sorry you got caught in his web!
It's a "Caveat Emptor" world. Thanks' for the heads up, and Good Luck!
he's not an exception to what has become of the high end audio industry. There are things that you must do when all of your clients are over 50, and it isn't at all pretty.
What does the age of your clients have to do with being shady?

He is the only hi-fi saleman that will get you laid. He used to advertise that if you bought a system from him he would set you up with an escort for the night.
I believe he's still doing that if I'm not mistaken. I think it's every third Saturday of the month or something to that effect
