Just wanted to warn other inmates that after perusing positive feedback on Audiogon, I sent Chris a very large check two months ago for a custom rack. Still no rack, he seldom returns phone calls or e-mails, and now I see that he is no longer listed on Audiogon and there are similar complaints from the last two months on Audio Circle. CAVEAT EMPTOR!
He confirmed in the affirmative.

Has he cashed your check? If he hasn't just have them put a stop payment on that check.
If he has cashed it, ask your bank for the endorsed check, then send him a registered letter demanding your product or your money back in full. If he refuses, or doesn't respond in any way, file a criminal complaint against him with his local DA.
I wouldn't deal with him again.
There are more complaints at AC if you'd like to search, but it's apparent that Chris, at the very least, isn't a 'customer is always right' kind of guy. In fact, he isn't that guy, plus has an attitude. Who needs it.Sorry about your monetary loss. Totally sucks.
Edit: obviously, the 'link' is for others-you, the OP, are already aware. Oh, and good luck.
Thanks for the warning. I had considered using him in the past, but went with Steve Blinn instead. Steve also took a fairly long time, but at least he was responsive to e-mails and delivered an excellent product.
I apologize for having to write this and I have written it before - ALWAYS pay via Credit Card! It gives you the protection you need. If a company does not accept credit card payment, do business with someone else.

What a shame. I bought a large maple platform, communication was fine and I received it on time. He returned my emails promptly. Maybe he's getting too busy. Doesn't he have someone answering the phones?
I bought 2 racks from Timbernation and had no problems.
I bought two large platforms for turntable isolation a few years ago. Had no problems, but he wasn't the most pleasant man to deal with over the phone.
