May I ask what the advantage of fixed bias would be in a Class A amplifier?

I think one advantage is that you don't need a cathode resistor that dissipates a lot of heat.

And a high current audio signal doesn't pass through a high value capacitor. The fixed bias decoupling capacitor can be much smaller, so cheaper and of a higher quality.
