Thanks to all for answers. Using PSUD2, B+ is around 1000V @ 140mA (PT is 1500VCT @ 225mA). AFAIK big transmitting tubes need voltage over 1000V (this is what I read) and thought maybe there was "something else" in the worl of tubes... Anyway I'll check the references given by people here. BTW why those russian tubes are so "hungry" for filaments?

If you want maximum power output then *maybe* but 1000V is perfect for an 845 / 211 / GM70 and both the 845 and 211 list 750V operating points in their data sheets.
do take note of TK's warning about these designs and safety.

This isn't your first DIY amp, right? 1 KV supplies and amps aren't a walk in the park. There's a *huge* difference between building something like this and a medium power push-pull amp with 400v on the plates.
