Go for it Jeff.... I too am thinking about doing a Version #3 of my 26-26 DC45 amp .... I can see the benefits of a redo .........
Keep us updated on your build !!
Thanks

Willie,
I'll be doing my 2nd this year but this time around I'll make it smaller with better finish along Jeff's lines.
I was interested in the use of the inline filters for heaters for the 45 tube but had 2 questions. Is there a substantial voltage drop using them and shouldn't they go before the filament transformer rather than after to reduce the noise therefore improving the transformer performance.?
Cheers

Those inline filters are not on the Type 45's, they are on the Type 26 pairs.
The Type 45 filaments just use Modified Hammond 166M2's the 2.5vct @ 3amp tranny. The secondary's tied directly to the 4pin socket via 12ga Mil spec wire. With the center lead replaced with a piece of 10ga Solid Silver wire and Bypasses and Rk attached and then to ground.
The pairs of Type 26 input tubes filaments use a unmodified Hammond 166Q2 a 2.5vct @ 6amps then a 0.1 ohm 10 watt resistor on each leg of the secondary then to the line filter. That gets me the 1.5XXXvAC at 2.25 amps to drive the 26 Filaments.
I definitely learned a lot on my second build. .... I think one more time and I might get it....Just Right !
Have fun
Willie
