Some were sceptictal about my 500mW SET amp project. But here are the 4102D/4101D/RGN1064 monoblocs after more than a year with planning, experiments and much brooding. They worked perfect from the first moment. Feeding the Avantgarde Duo's they play beautiful music without hum or distortion.

And from the reflection on the top plate, it looks like they will work with your decor beautifully. Those DHT lined up there are also really nice looking. Well done!

Thanks for posting. They are terrific.

OMG those are absolutely gorgeous. Those amps are stunning. I wonder how they would look you chromed the choke covers in the back?

I decided to leave the 60 years old trafo and chokes with the original old patina and printing. It is not chrome, but nickel plating which has a warm yellowish glow like it was used back in the 20'ties.
Lovely looking amps. Well done and enjoy.

Always been curious about tubes of that vintage. Beautiful work, iodemus.
Incidentally, did you shoot that on a Nikon? With a sprinkle of post-?

Thank you. Nikon yes, but a Canon or any good camera can do the job. Increased saturation a little and masked disturbing elements.
It is my first amp with directly heated driver. Listening to HQ recordings I am surprized how detailed/open/directly the music is through these DHT's which were launched in 1919.
Loved my D3 when I had it. We have an assortment of Canons (5D, 1DX) at work, plus a Nikon and we just bought a Sony A7S for fun.
At one point, about 10 years ago, I thought I might try some of those globe triodes in a DIY Hifi Supply design. Never did get around to it. I bet they sound magic.

Superb!
Big speakers and little amps blew my mind!
Nice job. That RGN 1064 is a pretty rare bird, heh?

As rare as the 101D/102D family. It was introduced in 1932, about 12 years after 101D/102D.
Beautiful.
I'd love to see a pic underneath. I'm starting to build so I am studying as many amps as I can.... Would love to find a trove of globes some day.

I did the same as you, and never afraid to ask questions. Don't hesitate to ask, I will do my best. But I'm far from an expert in any way.
Good luck,
Johnny.
Ooow so sweet looking, I can only imagine what they sound like.
I tried a pair of W101D's in my 26 preamp they sounded very good.
Enjoy !
