I've read through the thread and I don't see where it's been mentioned that with the drivers in series the self inductance of each driver will be in series with the other drivers.
I hope you are not wanting much HF extension.

Hey Tre'
Thanks for the post. It is very helpful, because I didn't know about inductance rolling off the highs. I don't mind asking a question, and looking stupid, if I can get an answer that tells me something.
" the drivers in series the self inductance of each driver will be in series with the other drivers. // I hope you are not wanting much HF extension."
These drivers are mid drivers, and their highpass will be 1,200hz. Maybe as high as 1,800hz, but that is very doubtful. Do you think I would be all right if I was to run series?
I did pull out my broken into pieces, "hi-fi loudspeakers and enclosures" by Abraham Cohen, and the section on impedence is all about the resonant frequency issue, and what to do about it. What do you know?
I think that if I want to try series, then I will break the two quads of drivers into four pairs which are wired in series at 16ohms. That is, two amps with 4 output tubes running one pair per tube. My 2a3 amps have 4,8, and 16ohm taps. No reason not to try a little of everything, right?
Keep 'em coming.

Big speakers and little amps blew my mind!
I agree, you should try everything.
If you're only looking for these drivers to extend to 1800Hz I don't think series will be a problem but then again I don't know what drivers you plan to use so I don't know how much inductance each has.

The driver was linked earlier. Below is the data sheet. I don't think it has the info you need. Don't sweat it. It's just a thought experiement. If I cross this bridge I'll ask for help.
Thanks,
Jamie

My earlier posts were a response to Mr. Steady's original question - I had not read the entire thread. In my experience, very few high-frequency drivers sound good when wired in series.

JD,
Thanks for the posts.
These are mid drivers with a high pass of 1,200hz.
