Hi Naz!
What's your first name? Is it Naz?
If you're into digital audio, it is now better than ANY vinyl source.
There are two new components one should notice.
Berkeley Audio Design has thrown down the gauntlet on D/A converters-- the new Alpha DAC Reference Series.
Von Gaylord is at it again also. with the UNI Digital MK 2. I think the speaker you heard at the show was their "The Legend MK 2".
Their amps work like amps should, so those speakers had a good time of it. The small stand-mounted speakers are easily the best small speaker I have ever heard. Their shape makes tuning into a demo room easy, and they are built from excellent materials and parts.
One might pigeon-hole me right here and ask "well, then-- why do you cart that giant MLTL around, and go to extremes with a one watt amp?".
I get virtually identical sound. But, there's something more-- I get a real grip on the whole room from cubic feet and surface area (that "grip" is something I admittedly fall short of in some Hotel rooms-- one even has an air conditioner stuffed right into a corner that I need to use--). But in a home with a usable listening area, it's a WHOLE different story! Besides, there are other Hi-Eff. speakers out there to be had...
The images from the big speaker and little amp have more presence, life, and depth of images-- and saturation of images in the room is also more realistic, but sadly, only in a usable room.
Am I building an argument for small, perfectly-radiating speakers with big amps?
YES in Hotel rooms or small, non symmetrical apartments rooms, but otherwise, no-- I derive so much more musical reality/pleasure from the big ones with the little amps..... that I probably can't be saved!Check out those new Digital advances. Both companies have given us real progress for sure.

I enjoy running ~290L MLTL GPA Duplexes in my smallish, near-symetrical room... Their bass alignment was designed specifically for high impedance amps and small rooms. Maybe little speakers could sound "better" in my lttle room, but as it stands, my system sounds wonderful to me. Have just been lost in Future Islands, James Blake, FKA Twigs and A Winged Victory for the Sullen. No qualms.
Now waiting for my DP-777 SE to be delivered, then will purchase a new source and build a pair of SET mono-blocks... and enjoy.
Cheers.
