As I understand it ( & please correct me otherwise) most who use the 4P1L in their preamp use a digital source (approx 2V) but if using a phono source instead, things are not so great with the 4P1L and microphonics becomes a real problem. Is there a DHT-Pre capeable of say 12-15db gain better suited for a phono source instead? Like I said before please correct me if my statements are incorrect. Are DHT preamps better suited for digital sources ?
Cheers

I use a 26 linestage with a Gary Pimm 6ER5/6GK5 phono and love it.
...have no issues of gain in my system. Please check my profile to see what tables, carts, and tonearm I have. My speakers are ~ 98-100 db though.
I see you have a 4Pi. My brother has one and I do not think you will have a problem with the type 26 unless your amp's input sensitivity to full output is so low.

The 4P1L gets microphonic at low signals - you have to take extra measures. I don't use vinyl so I'm not bothered. You can use the 26 in filament bias - that's pretty well behaved, but only mu of 9
There's an ingenious phono stage using the 3a5. Have a look. Very good apparently.
