KR currently lists on their site two 300Bs and one 300BXLS.

Ignoring the latter, higher-power tube, the only difference between the first two appears to be the bottle shape.Tube Depot, the official US importer of KR tubes, sells the 'Coke-bottle'-shaped version for $925/pr. delivered.

...for $1950 (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) per pair BuyItNow price. The pics reveal some apparent construction differences between these two, but it could be just the pics.
The sounds of the KRs seem to be well-liked here, and I'm considering a pair for my Coincident Frankenstein IIs.
Any thoughts on the differences between these 2 KR 300Bs?
FWIW, I now have the following 300B pairs:
1. Original Shuguang Treasures,
2. Gold Lions, purchased new,
3. JJs, used, 'nearly new',
4. Sophia Golden Princesses, used with maybe 100 hours, and
5. Psvane TIIs, new, from Grant.
...so I surely don't need more, but, of course, what does 'need' ever have anything to do with this wacko obsession of ours?

I have some private info for you (not trying to sell or trade anything). I tried emailing you through the site with your photos. I do take emails from members here, so send me one if you are interested.
I have a set of KR 300b's, globe or balloon shaped (forgot the correct term), haven't compared them to the "coke bottled" KR ones but I would imagine they are more alike than different as compared to say the EML, WE, and Sophia Mesh/puncture plates which I also own.
It's really too subjective to rate these as it would only be my opinion and then based on what amp/circuit and speakers I'm using them with but will state that I have had a couple offers on these over the years and have not wanted to sell them at that time.
I'm posting this here because your profile doesn't accept emails and because I do have an interest in your Sophia Golden(?) Princesses if you meant "Royal Princess". If you would like to trade, plus cash to equal it out, email me. If your RP's are keepers but are still interested in my KR's you can email an offer if you like.
what is a good price?
I'm new to the SET camp and have a KR Antares 300 amp.
Thanks

TubesUSA.com!. George is great to work with
Hi Jeffery,
The two 300Bs are the same...if you look at their characteristics you can see this from their website.
The 300BXLS is a whole other animal...
Tube Depot is not the official US importer. Go to the KR website, find his info and give him a call. I guarantee it will be an interesting conversation, especially about the 300B.
I use EML standard and Mesh 300B's. I bought them from Jac at JacMusic who is a partial owner of the company. Their tubes are amazing and he is easy to contact and offers a nice warrantee on the tubes, something that is very hard to get with KR if you ever need it. I haven't compared the KR to the EML but I will say that I'm a happy customer (no affiliation) and would buy from Jac again.

...is the ONLY entity listed under USA and then Tubes.
Thx for the other info.

Interesting! That's a change in the last 6 months! Thanks for the info.
I would recommend KR tubes. I have KR, EAT, AVVT and EML but prefer KR. KR, EAT and EML are hand made tubes and canīt be compared to mass produced tubes in quality. I guess it comes down to individual taste and the amp design.
Heres a film from KR factory http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amZbwlglbto

Jeffrey, hi. The JJ 300B all in all are very good performers and a bargain. Is your goal to spend as much as you can on something new?
EML is the cat's meow. Talk with them. They can help you.
As was mentioned VAIC made superb tubes. Collector's prices today but still...
I think EML & KR have quite an edge over anything Sino. Period. They have
lots and lots of options some of which do not make any sense (carbon plates). You realize Princess Tubes are in reality TJ Full Music tubes.
Go to DIYHIFI Supply and take the factory tour. Mr.Cherry is a wealth
of good information.
What happened to the Parallel 845 amps from Italy?

Its been a week. Brain reset. I can't remember what you last had but remember at one time you had hurricanes. If wrong on this I give up.
I suggest you also consider EML 300B, I think about half the cost of KR's. Also if you are willing to buy older tubes without a warranty, consider looking for AVVT or even VAIC tubes. These were really well made tubes and seem to last quite well. Sell the three least favorites of your Chinese 300B's and invest in something Continental. Of course, YMMV based on your system, room acoustics and listening preferences, but hearing them in your system is the best possible thing. Good luck on your hunt.
"Any thoughts on the differences between these 2 KR 300Bs?"
1. Those from the Tube Depot and KR are new production and come with full warranty; those from epay are 14 years old and come with no warranty.
2. One kilobuck.
Edith Kron speaks excellent American, and a lovely person, and should be accessible via their website.
She ought to. She's from Brooklyn.
In my Frankenstein MK II the very best sounding tubes were the EML XLS, EML mesh, Sophia Royal Princess, Takatsuki-TA and the AVVT 32B SL. The KR 300b was good but the EMLs are better sounding, organic, very dynamic with excellent openess-transparency. The Sophia carbon plate and "mesh"(perforated plate, not a true mesh) are a level or two below in sound quality.
