I too have had problems with these sockets. Not from connections on the bottom of the socket,but from the top, loosening where the tube pins plug in.
I use jeweler screwdrivers to bend the pins to better grip the tube. I have had less problems with the cheaper ceramic sockets.Cut-Throat

How about the WOO sockets, teflon, handled by Percy ??
I don't think ANY of these modern day sockets are good for more than ten inserts and removals BTW.

Where do you find a good supply of, say, Amphenol brown octal sockets? My stash is running low and good NOS ones seem more scarce than good NOS tubes.

That's where I get mine and I like the vintage sockets best as well.
Honest amplification is better than excessive 2nd order distortion anytime.
