why?
"Unlike a NOS CV-181 tube, the Shuguang CV-181-Z tube is a safe replacement in any 6SN7 circuit. It is not identical to the NOS CV-181 tube. However compared to other 6SN7 tubes, the Shuguang Treasure CV-181-Z tube has a much larger "ST" style bottle."
Just get a really really good old stock 6SN7 and save some money and get better sound. If you like the pretty bottle, have at it.
Follow Ups:
has a higher mu than a 6SN7. For a while one British contributor was claiming that they had a common cathode, but that was not true although I have come across published specs that describe it as being so. My original CV-181's definitely have separate heater and cathodes, and a definitely higher mu. Placing two such tubes in a voltage amplifier series sometimes will overload the circuit unless you make some circuit mods. But being higher mu, use of a single 181 often delivers significantly better dynamics and greater detail.
It disturbs me when the Chinese (and others) reissue tubes claiming to be NOS types when they are obviously not.
YMMV
