Hi,
Good tubes, but whatever you decide buy new with full warranty. The shelf life can be a problem with EML I heard. My story is, 2 years ago I bought NOS NIB (2002)EML 300B tubes from respected seller on A-Gon. I paid only 20% less than the cost of the new ones.(An impulse buy). After 300 hrs in REichert circuit (400V 80mA) one of the tubes degraded 30% .Both bases went loose in short time. I bought KR 300BLX and like this tube much better. Far less prone to humm than EML and more extended (bass and highs) tube than EML. I have to add that I have a great deal of respect for JAC (EML manufacturer). He responded promptly and on my email regarding troubled tube.Rgrds. L

EML 300Bs are internally well-made tubes with beautiful glass and hard vacuum. How they sound on a comparative basis with other 300Bs is highly dependent on the amp they're used in and the tube a given circuit is optimized for. For example, I have a pair of 5-figure tube monoblocks that were optimized for inexpensive Chinese solid plate tubes and no premium tube sounds as good in them as do Shuguang 300B-98 solid plates. On the other hand, I have other 300B amps in which the EML outpaces every other tube I've tried. So, knowing your amp might inform my response further. On average, I'd say my main amps are an exception and in most 300B amps, you will find the EMLs more revealing than all Chinese 300Bs and certainly more objective and disciplined in the frequency extremes than any mesh plate. The EML 300B sound is meaty, robust, separating of transient events in dense music and full of tone in the magical midrange. 300B bass bloat is held in trim. Transient attack is strong, clean and precise, unlike some lesser 300Bs. The closest contemporary tube in sound quality that rivals the EML 300B is the current KR Audio 300B Balloon. What I have to except from this comparative opinion is the current production Western Electric 300B, which I haven't heard but is highly respected.A caveat on EML: I can't say this is still an issue, and the US importer says they haven't seen this, but early EML tubes had common failures in the glue joint between the glass envelope and the ceramic base. You really should insert and extract tubes from sockets by handling the base, but many people just pull by the glass. I'd handle these EMLs more carefully than that. A glue joint failure can be repaired, so it's not alarming nor a reason not to enjoy these tubes.
Hi Bob,I've been using Emission Labs 300B's in my Wyetech Sapphires for the last 7 months. The amplifiers came stcok with TJ/Full Music 300B's. I prefer the the Emission Labs 300B's over the TJ/Full Music 300B's. Vocals with the TJ/Full music 300B's seemed distant and recessed. I agree with Len, that the Emission 300B's are better in every area except price.

Yes. Good tubes, similiar in presentation to the TJ/Full Music/Sophia, but better in all regards.
