Damn, Larry, no wonder you get up at 4:30am every day...

I could not go back to sleep....I usually sleep later, it will be a day with a nice nap! Yea, that made me grin as well....
...your ladies in residence that way? [g] And thanks again for the FAK heads-up, some of the most pleasant music I've heard in quite some time!

One of the goats had her head stuck and was squealing like a....well...a stuck goat. The ladies, who normally are the goat herders hereabouts, seem to be off duty when shit happens at night. Soooooo, U-know-who had to get up, grab my pistol and walk out to the barn half expecting a chucacabra to sweep off the barn roof and drain my blood...
Then off course sleep was not possible....
And here we are....Yep FAK's 2nd album is a dream...that sibling harmony, songs written with that innocent view that young ladies have before they become cynical bloodsucking ex wives, simple backing with no flash and smash, like the young Everly Brothers sorta.
They are massive in Europe where the appreciation of that type of music is entrenched and accepted....Midlake, Mumford, Fleet Foxes, Unthanks, all are HUGE there.....and in my listening room as well....
First time I heard/saw them was on the Palladia Channel - wow, what a band!! And I give Palladia much credit for bringing to us some terrific music presented in a very nice format - great camera work, none of that f*ckin' annoying MTV-style quick cut, shaky cam editing.
I swera to God, one day *someone* is gonna film a live concert using only a single, 29 rows back camera to show us the entire band, with alternative views of each bandmember who has a single camera focused on them for the entire show. With the capability of the newer DVD players to allow us to select alternative views, this, IMHO would the THE way to film a live show.
I can't tell you how many times I have been *thoroughly* disappointed with a show because of the camera and editing work. Invariably, the lead guitarist is wailing away on a juicy riff and the damn editor decided to give us 45 seconds of the crowd bopping along. That, and the seeming incapability of them to allow us to focus on the music being played for more than 3 seconds is pretty damned annoying.
I actually had to turn off the video portion of a Who concert because the quick-cut editing was almost making me ill. Some day, someone will get it right - until then, I will seek the power off button on my big-screen TV when necessary.
