Hi, I am trying to measure the Noise Criteria Curves for a room, but do not have the resources to an octave band SPL meter.
Is there another way to measure this?
I was thinking to record the noise and do an FFT on it, will this work? I am guessing some degree of calibration will have to be done to relate the digital spl to absolute spl levels? how do i even do that as well?
Thanks.
my friend used thishttp://www.wavecapture.com/RoomCapture.html
for me I used the RTA function of Room EQ wizard, it should work the same I believe.

This is outside my area of expertise, but if nobody else answers you might try asking in the alt.sci.physics.acoustics newsgroup. You can get there through Google Newsgroups.
