My PP500 appears to be dying: out of the blue, the hot alarm began intermittantly to come on, though I relocated the unit and its now isolated on its own shelf and not in a hot area. One by one I've had to unplug my stereo pieces and plug them directly into wall power, as they're not functioning correctly, it started with the Comcast Cable converter box, then over the space of a few days my Blu-Ray DVD player, now my pre-amp. With the pre-amp, the display was flickering and fading out-low power, which instantly went back to normal when plugged into the wall power. I don't know the problem, and have no experience trouble-shooting this piece of equipment. I hope you can help me out here, Paul.

It is probably the fan circuit is not working. It;'s a pretty simple fix actually. Contact Barrows in CS and we'll get 'er handled for you.
Paul-
I understand about the fan circuit affecting the hot issues, but why would equipment not work correctly even when the unit isn't indicating that its over heated? When the "hot" indicator comes on, the unit shuts down power, does its power output also get affected by excessive heat before this point?
Thanks!
Dane
Unfortunately, the failure of the fan may have caused some of the capacitors inside the unit to change value significantly enough to affect the output voltage. When they replace the fan transistor they also go through and change out any damaged caps.
This is just a guess of course.
Thanks Paul!

Paul-
I just received my PP500 back from you service facility, haven't had the opportunity to route the power cords and give it a go. The paperwork accompanying it back didn't list any work done, parts replaced or problems found. I sort of hoped I could get a little insight into what had gone wrong with it. Is this information available through your service facility?
Thanks in advance.

Sure! Did it go through us or Cullen? In any case, you'll have to wait until Monday but we're happy to share.
Have a great holiday.
