We just moved into our new sanctuary and had our first service yesterday, we did not have a chance to do a thorough sond check and during service the power on the amp rack kept shutting off, or the surge protector that the amps are connected to. The amp rack consist of 2 crown xs 900, a crown ct 600, and a qsc rmx 1450, the dbx driverack260 along with the aviom is also on the rack all connected on the surge bar. All amp channels are running and four ohms except for the subs which are parallel at 2 ohms, The sound in the church is around 98dba and the problem occurs when we hit some peaks in the music.I'm thinking the problem is that the oulet is not able to handle the current needed for the amps. What to do? Please help!

Follow Ups:
NEVER NEVER plug all your power amps into a dang power strip
Cripes that amazes me when people plug everything into a power strip
Plug you amps straight into the wall if at all possible
If you dont have enough outlets then get another 20amp or a couple
20 amp ciruits installed

How big is this here church? If I put that stack of amps on my front porch with the right speakers, they could hear me at Dulles airport!
Seriously, though, you need to figure out how much the entire rack is going to pull when the amps are loaded, and work from there. I add up a lot more than 2kW if those numbers are power, and 2 kw of audio output is more than you get from one 20 amp circuit.

the xs900 powers 6 of our mains along with 2 18"subs. the ct600 powers the 2front monitors and qsc powers 4 side fills.

You need to be more specific. What speakers (manufacturer/model/impedance) are hooked up as "Mains" to one(I assume) of the XS900, and what subs(same info desired) are hooked up to the other XS900? Look at HOW the main speakers are hooked up as well, although I suspect they are just daisy chained together. These amps and speakers could easily be exceeding the current capacity of your surge protector's breakers. The first suggestion is have two, preferably three separate circuits available for this amp rack. The mains speaker configuration may be problematic too, presenting a load that's difficult for the amplifier to handle at this time. Also, is there adequate ventilation in the amp rack? This is necessary for safe performance too.Best regards,
the church is about 7000sq feet (sanctuary) and it seats about 700-800.

Yup, that stack of amps needs more than 20amps.Put the 2 XS900 on one breaker, the other 2 on a different breaker and you should be good to go.

98 db in a 800 seat church? Makes me long for the days when a left/right pair of Altec 604's and a couple Bogen 100 watt amps did the job for worshipping God! I guess He's upped the ante lately. ;)
