I have read through the Tascam website, dealers' brief product write ups, etc but I cannot find the answer to a simple question......will the DV-RA1000 able to play standard commercial sa-cd discs? From what I understand, discs recorded with the unit in DSD format cannot be played on regular sacd players.
I notice that there is no sacd logo on the front panel.......so my guess is that the unit cannot play any of the sacd discs.
Follow Ups:
It doesn't do SACD's pit signal processing, specific UDF layout, or decryption; in other words no it won't read SACDs.Its discs won't play back on SACD players either, no -- this requires creating an edited master format anyways, and a 'cutting master' on AIT. Basically, the DSDIFF files have to be tagged, indexed, and processed before being put onto AIT for pressing.
Now, this doesn't make it a worthless piece of equipment, not at all. Seeing as the Genex and Tascam DS-D98 machines do the same thing for $10000+.
