It is a condenser mic, using its own power supply. From what I understood Joe to say, it is not 48v so phantom is not an option. In that regard, I suppose you can figure it like the old Neumann lunchbox p/s units. Only Joe's p/s is quite small and battery powered.

I don't yet know if Joe mfg'd or had mfg'd the capsules, or if they are reappropriated from somewhere else.
